Aspiring K-12 CTO Academy

Special New York-based nine month interactive program with leading CTOs/CIOs throughout the country to help you advance your skills and knowledge to lead technology in your district.

Calling all New York K-12 Ed Tech Leaders!  Are you an early career technology leader (Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, Director of IT, Technology Coordinator, etc.) with less than four full years of experience? If so, NYSCATE has joined with CoSN to create a unique professional development opportunity for you for 2023-24! The Early Career K-12 CTO Academy experience is interactive and designed to provide K-12 district-level EdTech leaders real-world knowledge in a wide variety of areas. You will learn from some of the country's leading EdTech leaders and content experts.  Additionally, each cohort member selects a year-long Thought Partner from an extensive list of veteran CTO/CIOs from across the country to discuss their challenges and successes. The networking opportunities are endless, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The NYSCATE Academy will convene in early November 2023 and will meet virtually twice a month until June 2024.  In addition, the NYSCATE Academy will meet in person during the NYSCATE Annual Conference and during the CoSN Annual Conference.  Academy members will receive a monthly " recap " newsletter, including recordings of missed sessions.  Due to the hectic schedule of school district ed tech leaders, very little “outside” work is required.  Content highlights include but are not limited to the following:

  • EdTech Leadership
  • Communicating Effectively
  • Managing Technology Resources, including Procurement, Interoperability, and More
  • Creating a Sustainable Budget and Other Finance Issues
  • ERATE, Funding Sources
  • Building an Effective Team
