FD1 2nd Annual Pi.Licio.us Project Presenter: Chris Shively Participants will look at web resources through a critical lens which will require them to match a web resource with a New York State "Power" Performance Indicator. They will be able to return to their classrooms and share high quality web resources with their colleagues and suggest web resources for their district curriculum maps. They will be able to help their colleagues move from "cute" web activities to powerful learning experiences.
FD4 BLEND: Bringing Learning Environments in New Directions Presenter: Andrea Tejedor & Andrea Taylor The process of using Web 2.0 and 3.0 tools to BLEND: Bring Learning Environments in New Directions has resulted in improved teacher attitude toward technology and has expanded teacher use of multiple technologies in the classroom. The new approach to course design and delivery has provided opportunities for practical or applied learning activities and critical reflection within a community of practice, enabled self-directed learning, and facilitated the development of a respectful environment.

AM1 Web Literacy: Teaching Brock To Search Presenter: Howie DiBlasi
Learn how powerful searching techniques are to finding information. Participants will be able to: • Search the Internet Effectively • Evaluate Internet information and web pages • Read Web Addresses • Determine Page Authorship • Check Viral Information and the Content • Use 5 key commands to search the Web • Define why you're looking for it, and what you're not looking for. • Learn to think critically • How search engines work with keywords and why the most powerful keyword combination is the phrase • What 'boolean" searching is and why it's a powerful technique.
AM2 Photography as a tool of Technology Presenter: Andrew Davidhazy
Photography is most often though of in the context of art. In this presentation you will appreciate how it can be used as a tool of technology. Images and photography are used as the "key" to promote interest, as well as open up minds to conservative and restrictive ideas about the power of images created to solve engineering, science and technology problems. Demonstrations will focus on simplified, inexpensive, solutions adaptable to most mid-level class situations. High speed photography, velocity and duration measurements, density gradient visualization, motion analysis techniques, etc. are planned to be included in this session.
AM3 Designed 2 Learn (NOTE: This workshop is full) Presenter: Wendy Smith
Designed 2 Learn will focus participants on developing exemplary SMART lessons focusing on student learning in an interactive approach. By joining and participating in an online learning community, attendees will continue to expand their knowledge and skills through a network of learners with a common interest.

Come and discover how to build an infrastructure for continual professional development using Web 2.0 tools. Upon completion of the session/workshop the participant will be able to: • Describe the difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 • Understand the application of Web 2.0 tools in today’s classroom • Explore 12 Web 2.0 tools • Understand the application of Social Networks in today’s Classroom • Use e-pals to create student e-mail and communicate with Global Projects • Understand social bookmarking applications • Understand how a Wiki, Blog and Podcast can enhance classroom instruction • Describe how to use Google Docs in a classroom environment.
PM2 iPod touch in the Classroom: Tips, Tricks, & Creative Uses (NOTE: This workshop is full) Presenter: Mike Amante
This session will empower attendees to make the most of mobile technologies in the classroom and beyond. The skills that will be garnered in this session will be powerful enablers for students, teachers, and administrators alike in using technology effectively on the go!
PM3 Using Moodle to Reach 21st Century Learners Presenters: Deirdre Doherty & Kathleen Roberts, Ph.D
Moodle is a robust learning management system. Moodle is more than an online place to house content! Within the Moodle environment one can create discussion forums, embed multi-media, create self-assessment quizzes, submit assignments, provide links to resources, and much more.
