About Paul

Paul graduated from SUNY Cortland and began his career as a social studies teacher at Arlington Middle School in 1982.

Upon completion of his Master’s in Secondary Social Studies from SUNY New Paltz in 1988, Paul moved on to teach for the next 10 years at Saugerties High School.

It was there that he developed the newly established Participation in Government course, and worked as an active member of the district's technology committee. In 1997, Paul authored a NY State Learning Technologies Grant which he secured for the Saugerties District. After presenting on technology integration at a number of professional conferences, Paul was invited to join the faculty of the Department of Secondary Education at SUNY New Paltz in 1998, where he has since worked as an adjunct instructor.

Personal Mission

“My greatest passion in educational technology lies in using it to cross the boundaries that exist between people. It is my hope that we use it to bring people together to find what we have in common as well as what makes us unique.”

The difference NYSCATE makes

“NYSCATE provides its members with opportunities for professional growth. If one has a passion for teaching, as a member of NYSCATE, they will find others who are excited by the possibilities that technology can provide.”

“I personally started as a NYSCATE volunteer in 2003 and was encouraged to present at our annual conference and regional events. Since then, my membership has provided me with opportunities to meet and work with colleagues from across New York State to help support the great work that they are doing.”

Little Known Fact

“I am a professional musician, and member of Betty and The Baby Boomers, a folk band. We have performed in venues great and small and have toured several times in Ireland. We have produced five albums (CDs) of our music over the past 30 years. www.bettyandthebabyboomers.com.”

Greatest Accomplishment

“My greatest personal accomplishment (partnership) is raising three capable, intelligent and successful children. As I look back on my career of 34 years, I would say that professionally, I have had the opportunity to teach thousands of children while also making contributions to improving the practice of hundreds of my colleagues.”
